The Best Ummah

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Dear sweetheart,

The ummah of Prophet Muhammad saw has been given blessings that no other ummah has been given.  

Allah swt says in the Quran:

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ

“You are the best ummah singled out for mankind: you enjoin what is right (ma’roof), forbid what is wrong (munkar), and believe in Allah.”  

[Surah Al-Imran:110]

The best nation; that's who we are, but how will we truly become the best nation? Allah swt has explained in this ayah that we have to enjoin ma'ruf, forbid munkar and believe in Allah swt.

There's a couple of videos I posted below to help you understand the real meaning of amar ma'ruf and nahi munkar and I think Brother Nouman explained them well. It is very important that we understand the real meaning of 'Amar ma'ruf'. This is the problem that I see in our society today because we really love to point out others mistakes and we go around commanding people to do things that we think are right. For example, we say "You shouldn't do this and this, this is haram, that is haram" etc etc.

'Amar ma'ruf' should depends on the person we are advising and the situation we are in. Not many people like to be criticized, and the worst thing, some people react negatively to criticism. And I want to re-emphasized the point he made that "pointing others mistakes is not amar ma'ruf but it is just us inflating our ego, showing we are better than other people" which means we have a disease in our heart. So, be careful with everything that come out from our mouth.
